There's no such thing as a "cafeteria Catholic":
In order for an adult to become a member of the Catholic Church, one has to affirm: "I believe and profess all that the holy Catholic Church believes, teaches, and proclaims to be revealed by God." Roman Catholic Affirmation of Faith.
Jesus himself made clear that unity of belief was necessary to prove to the world that He was sent by the Father: “I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me." (John 17:20-21)
The last three Popes have all made clear that being a "good Catholic" requires assent to all of the Church's teachings: "It is sometimes reported that a large number of Catholics today do not adhere to the teaching of the Catholic Church on a number of questions, notably sexual and conjugal morality, divorce and remarriage. It is sometimes claimed that dissent from the magisterium is totally compatible with being a 'good Catholic,' and poses no obstacle to the reception of the Sacraments. This is a grave error that challenges the teaching of the Bishops in the United States and elsewhere. " Pope John Paul II - September 17, 1987
"Dear brothers and sisters, how necessary it is today at the dawn of the third millennium for the entire Catholic community to proclaim, teach and witness to the entire truth of Catholic faith, doctrine and morals in a unanimous and harmonious manner!" Pope Benedict XVI - July 5, 2005
“Many people say they belong to the church,” but in reality have “only one foot inside. For these people, the church is not home, but is a place they use as a rental property,…
…There are those with alternative teachings and doctrines and have a partial belonging to the church. These, too, have one foot outside the church. They rent the church, not recognizing that its teaching is based on the preaching of Jesus and the apostolic tradition." Pope Francis - June 5, 2014
